Steve Sims has developed a unique perspective on best practices in delivery of legal services through 15 years of work at private law firms and seven years of in-house experience at a leading manufacturer of steel containers. He brings a balance of analytical skills and business acumen to bear on mergers and acquisitions, investments, secured lending and other complex transactions. He has extensive knowledge of the consumer products supply chain and software business. He also represents start-up business owners and executives who are joining or leaving an employer. Steve has handled multiple distribution, sales agent, outsourcing and strategic partnership arrangements. During his career, Steve has:
- Served as General Counsel of a New York Stock Exchange company
- Served as legal advisor to boards of directors and senior management teams
- Developed effective strategies for resolving commercial disputes
- Ensured good corporate governance and securities law compliance at public and private companies
- Negotiated and drafted for acquisitions, divestitures and other complex business matters
Prior to joining Enterprise Law Group in 2004, Steve was a Partner at Much Shelist in Chicago. Prior to joining Much Shelist in 2002, he served as Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of U.S. Can Corporation. In addition to handling transactions valued in the aggregate at $175 million, he handled shareholder matters, legal compliance and reporting, acquisitions and divestitures, commercial agreements, and claims and litigation, including negotiating and drafting all technology and IT systems acquisition and license agreements and managing critical legal aspects of an artwork portfolio for a custom and specialty products business.
Earlier in his career, he was an associate at Ross & Hardies (now a part of McGuire Woods). Among his assignments were to represent a large Chicago-based software company and a container manufacturer in several rounds of financing and acquisitions.
